Aloeric Primary School
Our Priorities for 2025–26
At Aloeric, we’re committed to providing the best possible education for every child. This year, our School Development Plan focuses on key areas to improve learning, wellbeing, and inclusion. Here's what we're working on:
1. Improving Writing Across the School
We’re embedding the Talk for Writing approach to help children become more confident, creative, and accurate writers. Pupils will learn through imitation, innovation, and independent writing, supported by high-quality teaching and resources.
2. Strengthening Early Reading and Phonics
With support from the Ramsbury English Hub, we’re enhancing phonics teaching using the Little Wandle programme. This will help our youngest learners—and older pupils who need extra support—develop strong reading foundations.
3. Developing a Love of Reading
We’re building a rich reading curriculum that promotes fluency, comprehension, and enjoyment. Children will explore a wide range of texts and take part in exciting reading events, author visits, and book clubs.
4. Supporting Reception Pupils
We’re focused on ensuring at least 65% of Reception children make expected or better progress in reading and writing. This includes tailored support for children with SEND and EAL, and creating literacy-rich environments.
5. Inclusive Provision for All Learners
We’re strengthening support for children with additional needs through individual learning plans, staff training, and close collaboration with families and external specialists.
6. Promoting Positive Behaviour
Our new behaviour policy is being embedded across the school to ensure consistency, fairness, and a focus on our school values. A new reward system is helping to celebrate positive choices and attitudes.
7. Improving Attendance
We’re working closely with families to improve attendance, aiming to exceed national averages. Regular communication, support, and clear procedures are in place to help every child attend school regularly.
8. Strengthening Leadership and Teaching
We’re supporting our new SENCo and developing subject leaders to ensure high standards across all subjects. Leaders are given time and training to monitor teaching and support staff effectively.
